--------------------------------------------------------- VIPERS PDR-1 data products: Photometric mask region files --------------------------------------------------------- The photometric mask marks regions of the VIPERS survey in which the target selection may be affected by poor photometric quality in the parent CFHTLS catalogue. These regions should be excluded from scientific analyses. They include the halos of bright stars (V<11) and associated artefacts such as reflections and diffraction spikes. Additionally we mask the few regions with non-uniform depth in the CFHTLS T05 and T06 releases that can affect the VIPERS selection. The percentage area lost to the photometric mask within the VIPERS PDR-1 coverage is 2.4% for the W1 field and 3.0% for the W4 field. The photometric mask is provided separately for the two VIPERS fields W1 and W4. The data files follow the DS9 Region format version 4.1 and use the polygon data structure. The following files are included vipers_photo_pdr1_W1.reg - Region file for W1 field vipers_photo_pdr1_W4.reg - Region file for W4 field References: DS9 Region file format http://hea-www.harvard.edu/RD/ds9/ref/region.html __________ 30/09/2013
